Knockdhu Natural Produce is a small family business run from our 18 acre croft in Lairg, Sutherland in the far Northern Highlands of Scotland. We produce Highland beef from our home bred cattle and market garden produce in an old fashioned, natural way using no artificial fertilizers or growth enhancers. Our fold of Highland cattle are raised outside in a stress free natural environment, low intensity, high welfare. They are grass fed in our species rich fields with additional winter fodder of locally grown hay and straw. Ravens and buzzards soar overhead in the daytime whilst the Northern Lights tease the dark night sky.
Highland cattle are one of Britains oldest and most distinctive breeds with a long, thick coat and majestic swept back horns. They are uniquely hardy thriving here in the Far North outdoors in the unpredictable Highland climate.
The quality of life our cattle have is of the upmost importance to us. Each animal has it's own name and personality. Our beef is as ethical as we can make it. The proof is in the quality and rich flavour. We don't push our animals to achieve a high market weight, but allow them to grow slowly.
Our Knockdhu Highland beef is truly natural, flavoursome and tender. The beef is hung for at least three weeks to develop it's full, traditional flavour and texture, then vacuum packed after being craft butchered to seal in the goodness.
We sell our beef direct to the public and offer a nationwide next day delivery service.
